Chapter 1, “Superman vs. Doomsday”

Players begin as helpless onlookers, without a Character card, as they watch the Man of Steel take hit after crushing hit. Each time a player gains a card with cost 5 or greater, they secretly decide where two of the Character cards will enter the game, placing one under this Chapter to appear during Chapter 2, and the other under another Chapter card to appear during Chapter 3.

When there are no Character cards left to assign, Superman has died, and Chapter 1 flips over to reveal…

Chapter 2, “Funeral for a Friend”

The Character cards placed under this Chapter gather to pay their respects-or their curses-and form a Character Line-Up for players to Recruit from at the start of their turns. Once every Character has left the Line-Up, the funeral is over and this chapter is returned to the box.
