Into the Unknown
The thing descended from the night sky like a drop of resin, at once swift and sluggish. It shone a bright, cold, pale white, like that of the sickly Moon. For all they knew, it came thence. Where it landed, a silver-white bloom spread, and an unseen veil settled across the sleeping polis.
Corona charged at it, even before the first cry of madness rose.
