Layered Civilizations is a civilization building card game played with transparent cards that physically stack on top of each other. Players start on primeval bedrock and advance through three historical ages by placing clear landmasses, cultural artifacts, and military units over their territory.
Each card played must cover at least two numbers on the cards beneath it, creating vertical layers where earlier history is buried beneath newer developments. As civilizations expand across the table, touching borders trigger diplomatic confrontations decided by military power. When the final age concludes, players score the numbers that remain visible on the surface. The player with the highest total points wins.
