Iron Court is a competitive card game built around the structure of a sanctioned strength-sport meet. Each player takes on a lifter working through a full competition - either an Olympic weightlifting meet of snatch and clean & jerk, or a powerlifting meet of squat, bench press, and deadlift. The lifter with the highest successful total at the end of the meet wins.
Play is divided into phases, one per contested lift, and each player takes three attempts per phase. To make an attempt, a player commits to a Lift card, which fixes both the weight in kilograms and a Difficulty number. The attempt is then resolved on two dice: meet or beat the Difficulty and the lift counts toward the running total, fall short and it is a no lift and that attempt is spent. In the Olympic edition, the clean & jerk resolves as two separate rolls, so a lifter can secure the clean and still lose the lift on the jerk.
Between declaring a weight and rolling for it, players spend cards from hand.
Technique cards reduce the lifter's own Difficulty, Energy cards replenish the pool that the more expensive techniques draw from, and Interference cards are played against whoever is currently on the platform - raising their Difficulty, forcing a discard, or locking them out of a card type for the attempt.
Momentum cards sit in hand and fire on their own when a streak condition is met, so a run of good lifts, or a run of bad ones, changes what the next attempt costs.
Each player also holds a Lifter card carrying a persistent special ability and a signature lift, plus a bodyweight class that sets opening hand size and starting Energy. Lighter lifters start with more cards, heavier lifters with more Energy. Optional setup rules cover raw and equipped divisions and several scoring modes, including one that weights results by bodyweight. Ties on total are broken in favor of the lighter lifter, as in the real sport.
