Der Tod des Schiffbrüchigen ("The Death of the Shipwrecked") is a German murder mystery party game (Krimidinner) set in 1857 aboard the fictional passenger ship Arctica, sailing from London to Malacca. After the ship sinks in the Indian Ocean, the survivors gather on a deserted island - but not everyone can be found. Players take on the roles of English nobility, researchers, and crew members to determine whether foul play was involved.
The game is played by 4–7 people and takes approximately 2.5 hours. It uses a hybrid format combining physical game materials with a companion app that guides the group through the investigation, provides audio and timed clues, and moderates the session - no game master is required. If fewer than 7 players are available, the app takes over the missing characters, so the group size does not affect the story. Players are permitted to lie about their role throughout the game. The session can be paused and resumed at any time. At the end of the evening, the truth is revealed, and the player who has correctly identified the culprit wins.
The game is published by German indie studio Morty's Mysteries and is available in print (physical box with app access) and as a digital-only version.
