After the Great War, most of humanity is gone. One of the few surviving cities still holds valuable supplies and functioning infrastructure, but it is controlled by the remnants of the old military, who have cut off the survivors living beyond its walls.
The resistance was powerless against the army controlling the city - until they discover Steel Whisper in the ruins of an abandoned military base, a legendary combat mech from the final years of the war. Only a handful were ever built, each powerful enough to destroy entire enemy formations.
After months of improvised repairs, Steel Whisper walks again. Its systems are unstable, its equipment incomplete, and its damaged power core can barely keep it running. Yet even at a fraction of its former strength, it remains a devastating weapon.
The resistance sends Steel Whisper into the city on a desperate assault. Its mission is simple: draw the enemy in, inflict as much damage as possible, and survive long enough for resistance teams to secure desperately needed supplies!
In the game, you take control of a combat mech. Following the scenario setup, place the enemies on the Battle Card: six Enemy Cards surround the player’s mech in the central position. Set each enemy’s statistics and its starting distance from the player’s mech.
Each turn, you have a pool of 6 Action Dice that can be spent on different actions, including movement, rotation, using basic and special equipment, cooling, repairs, and sensor control.
At the beginning of each turn, draw a Command Card and place it in one of the available positions on the Action Card. This determines three priority actions, which can be performed using dice of any value. The remaining three actions require dice of specific values.
The position of the Command Card also pairs up symbols on the Action Card. Matching these symbols allows you to activate specific pieces of special equipment.
During your turn, you must balance offense with preparation for the enemy response. Every action consumes energy and may cause the power core to overheat, so heat management is a constant concern.
The mech’s facing and its distance from enemies are equally important. Only its front armor provides strong protection, making positioning and rotation critical during combat.
Whenever an exchange of fire occurs, use the Combat Card. Place your dice results on selected spaces of its table to activate different combat bonuses, such as increasing damage, immobilizing an enemy, or triggering other tactical effects.
