2025 · Runner Games
Granfondo is a tactical cycling board game about positioning, timing, and team coordination in a road race. Each player controls a team of three riders - a Sprinter, Climber, and Rouleur - racing across tracks with flats, climbs, descents, feed zones, curves, and tactical obstacles.
Granfondo is designed and published by Runner Games, an independent one-person board game studio from Berlin.
Movement is card-driven. For each rider, players secretly select a movement card, then riders move in race order based on their current position. Terrain, drafting, rider type, stamina, and tactical options shape the final result.
Players manage performance points, use slipstreaming, sprints, team coordination, and positional battles, while risky doping cards may offer short-term advantages at the cost of possible disqualification after the race.
The goal is to place your riders as well as possible and score the most points based on final standings. Optional modules add crashes, intermediate sprints, rider drafting, team-based Race Alliance play, Automa opponents, and tournament modes. The New Challengers expansion increases the player count to six and adds new tracks.
